The Chak Chak temple is a holy place for Zoroastrians which has a wonderful story:
When Muslim attacked Iran and killed the King Yazd Gerd the third his family had to separate. Some of them were killed and some were enslaved. one of His daughters Nik Mehr and her servant Morvarid scaped to the mountain around Yazd. Morvarid has died and buried near the mountain that is called Pir Herisht. Nik Mehr kept running and arrived at another mountain but the enemies were close, she cried and ask her God Ahura Mazda to help her and protect her from the enemies, so the mountain miraculously opened, Mehr Nik enters and disappeared. Years after a shepherd went near the mountain and he had a dream of a saint women who asked him to make a temple there. So he made the Shrine of Chak Chak.
The numerous stairs guide you to the temple in which is man-made grotto sheltered by two bronze doors on which an image of a Sasanid solder holding and spear.
The temple has a marble floor and it is always wet because of the water drops of a spring. It has been said that the drops of water are the tears of oppressed and because of the sound of the drops the temple is called Chak Chak. The water is a holy element for Zoroastrians and you may see bolls on the floor to gather the drops as holy water.the temple is also known as Pir e Sabz. Pir is the highest spirituality level and sabz mean green reffered to the old tree that is grown fin middle od rocks. It is belived to be Nik Mehr cane. .
