There are many different bridges in Isfahan which connect the two sides of the Zayande Rud, but no one can provide you with such a feeling that Khaju Bridge will bring you.
This bridge is being made in 1681 during the Safavid era, under the King Abbas II’s order. It was known as the ‘king bridge’ which was used to get decorated for the new year’s celebration.
the architectural features of the bridge and the tale work used there makes the bridge a distinction. Moreover, this bridge was known to be one of the most beautiful bridges in its own time.
In the past the bridge was a place for people getting together and playing music. Even nowadays in the holidays are coming to the bridge and some people start performing different music styles.
If you focus enough you will realize that the bridge is of a distinctive architecture. The bases are located on a stone containing round and thick grind Konglomra which makes a resistant layer for the bridge. The river’s floor in the sides of the bridge are stone-made to reduce the damages of the water. Moreover, because the builders were intelligent enough, they have made the bridge such that it can resist the pressures of the water. That’s the reason why the bridge is intact during the years.
Although, in the recent years due to the ???????? and the river getting dry there were some damages on the bridge, but the bridge is still unique in terms of beauty and strength.
Maybe you would like to know that there is similar bridge in Kolalampour in the modern city naming Putrajaya. That bridge is the modern version of this bridge there.
